Do I have to buy pre-2005 clothes for my dolls now?

Not so much for the body, because I guess we could always take their heads off and unstuff them a bit, but the arms seem bigger and I won't be able to do anything about that!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Exactly, the plastic parts are even getting smaller. The fact the cloth bodies changed wasn't a big deal because stuffing is adjustable. Now that the platsic parts are smaller too, it is likely to cause many more problems.

And the differeance is MUCH more pronounced than it was between the older dolls.

Then there's the Gotz dolls who are somewhere in between the old size and new size. Susanna (Little Sisters) has a smaller chest and bigger bum.

Ann, Addy's kite dress will fit your Addy fine but not much room for underwear underneath. The Cape Island dress is a tight fit but it may work depending on how chubby she is. My Addy is my chubbiest girl (1993) and I took her to NY with me to try on her dress before she bought it. That may be the best solution-for those who are close enough to the stores and have chubby AGs to go and try on things to see if they fit and report back to the rest of us!

Ugh, hearing about the skinnier plastic parts makes me even more concerned, because the cuffs on a lot of my dolls' outfits, esp. Samantha, just barely fit as it is! As it is, a lot of the velcro shows on the cuff because it just barely reaches around the wrist!

Ugh, ugh, ugh. The more I learn about what AG is pulling, the more determined I am never to buy another item once the collections I have for my current dolls are complete. [img]mad.gif[/img]

Guess my Lissie won't be fitting in the traveling gown or any of the new things they might make for her.
I have a 1992 Felicity. Her Meet Dress fits perfectly but her work gown, summer gown, christmas, school, and riding habit are all tight and barely velcro. I thought it was perhaps I wasn't lacing her stays tight enough,
Too many Shrewsberry cakes.

I think it's really interesting that some of you are using Felicity's stays to snug in her size! I always thought they were a nuisance and never used them -- just the hoops to hold the gowns out properly. What a good idea!

The cuffs have ALWAYS been too tight! Plus the sleeves on Sam's middy dress have always been too short! I bought 9 of them so the Irish Band could have matching uniforms -- all before Mattel was even a blotch on the horizon -- and none of those dress sleeves could have the cuffs closed because the sleeves ended higher up the arm than the wrist. Considering that at the time, those dresses were the most expensive clothes item ($22) you could buy, I wasn't happy.

But last night I finally had a chance to put the beachside outfit on Holly. Holly is the very new AGT13 whose measurements I took to see what has changed with the AGs, and her hands and arms are smaller than any of my other dolls. Imagine my surprise to find that the hems on the sleeves of the striped tshirt in this set barely made it over her hands. And the sleeves are tight on her. So obviously this top wouldn't fit any of the older dolls at all because you can't pull the sleeves up far enough to make the tshirt meet in the back properly. Bumming!

I wanted to point out one more thing. Especially with the AGOT outfits, many of them are fabrics that can get wet. If you're having trouble with their size, use a spray bottle to get them damp, then put them on your biggest, fattest doll. Tug a bit, force it on if you have to. It will dry to fit the doll it's on, and as long as it doesn't get wet again, it will stay a little bigger. BTW, for ya'll who have small Middy dresses, I'm shocked. Two Sams could fit in my 1993 Middy dress, lol.

Keep the great ideas coming, Mayergirl! I loved the one about hugging your dolls to change their shape -- that works with bears, too. I would never have thought of wetting the clothes and letting them dry on the doll, though!

I am also worried about this. Im really getting excited for new things for Felicity-its been 6 years people!!-but Im afraid they wont fit her. Its so frustraing. I think I may follow someones suggestions as using her stays to lace her up real tight. The difference is definitely noticable. I have some of Addys clothes from back in the 90s and these dresses always fit Felicity nicely (when I was young and before my purist transition) but on Addy (2004) I had to buy her underwear to make them fit properly. Im afraid the opposite will happen to Lissie now.
